A Conceptual Paper: Smart Transportation Models with Approaches to the Community Friendly
Purpose: The research is to model a smart transportation concept for existing small coach (it is called ‘angkot’). The small coach would a uniqueness and typical characteristics of traffic in Indonesia, so that the model can be applied appropriately to many cities in Indonesia.
Background: The traffic congestion is one of the main problems faced by big cities around the world including in Indonesia. Many cases of congestion occur because the number of vehicles increase but inadequate road and infrastructure. It would be worsened due to lack of discipline by road users and poor implementation of control functions by road authority.
Design/Methodology/Approach: The research approach will be deductive. The deductive approach model or commonly called general to specific approach. In this study the theory of the concept of the smart city is first explained, then continues to the theory of the dimensions of the concept of smart city, then focuses on the dimensions of intelligent mobility and its indicators.
Results/Findings: It is expected to identify theories related with smart transportation and formulate the level of readiness for each aspect of smart transportation as part of the concept of a smart city.
Conclusion and Implications: The research would come out with an establishing a transport ecosystem that assures the movement of individuals and the fulfillment of regional logistics needs. The public policy will be the highest priority over all aspects that impact the community through mechanisms of continuous community aspiration.
